III. Introduction of Mr Dennis Fries, Section I Representative out of Rochester, NY. He is traveling around attending every Athletic Directors Conference in his region. Section I leads the nation in NIAAA memberships. Reminded everyone about the Summer Institute being held on the Cape in August. National Conference is Dec 11-15, 2004 in New Orleans, LA. Also invited everyone to get involved in a NIAAA committee.

Discussed VSADA Finances. T-shirts sales at Winter sites went very well.

Reminded everyone of the VIHL meeting.
We are also in the 2nd year of a 2 year schedule.

New
LTC courses are available and can be found on-line
·
NIAAA
has a great website – Sect 1 is having a LTC Course weekend at the Cape – Aug
8-11. Contact Mike or www.section1niaaa.org for more
information.

There
will be new requirements for the CMA & CAA starting in Jan 2005.
·
There
is a Section I meeting in Rockland, ME. Mike is going. If anyone wants to go
with him, please let him know. VT will
host the annual meeting in 2008.
·
LTC
506 course at the Conference went well, lots of people
·
Please
check the lists he sent out to make sure that your LTC courses are accurate.
·
Cost
of clinics will go up in April 2004 to $95 for FA & $105 for CP
·
Need
to discuss re-certification process at May meeting.
·
Bruce
Wheeler will give a report on recertification at May meeting.
·
The
process of appeals was discussed. Who should handle these? Leagues, VPA or Committees?
·
Substance
abuse violations were discussed. Should the VPA enforce a statewide policy once
tournament time comes around?
·
Dance.
Should this become a VPA sponsored activity?
·
Calendar. Suggested that we go with a 16 team
tournament format instead of play-in games.
This would give us more play dates in the regular season.

Spring
guides are up on website
·
Attendance
at VPA tournament games this winter was up.
·
Affiliated
and home school policies are going to be looked at. Opinions, suggestions,
ideas to Bob asap.

Recommendation from Executive Committee to add a position – VSADA
Executive Director. Letter of Intent
and Resume to Bob Hingston by May 1st. Propose to pay $500 stipend, office expenses and trip to National
Conference for Executive Directors.
Motion was made to warn this position for May
meeting vote.

Ballots were handed out. Fill out and return to Frank Pecora.

teams in the tournament. Mike O’Day
spoke in favor of limiting to 16 teams. Motion to recommend to the VPA and ASC
to limit the tournament field in all sports to a maximum of 16 teams.

Staggered
start for sports season. Seems that the
basketball coaches liked the staggered start but most of the AD’s present liked
it the way it worked this season.
Discussion centered around leaving the winter start like it was this
year (shot gun style).

Fair
Haven volunteered to host Football or Soccer tournaments.
·
Fall
tournament sites. If you would like to host, please let the VPA know as early
as possible.
·
Baskeball
scheduling concept. Some schools are looking into playing JV & Varsity
games on the same nights but at opposite sites.
·
2 year terms for Executive Committee officers. Warn to change the bylaws to allow 2 year
terms of office for officers. This would allow for better flow and to allow
officers to get good at their jobs.

Presentation
by Robert Corran, UVM Athletic Director.
UVM is working together with local high
schools to create partnerships.
Strategic plans include “Becoming Vermont’s Team”. They are trying to create and build
connections around the state through clinics, hosting events, professional
development and leadership workshops.
